Appearance is easy. Substance is hard. Same as it ever was.
A Playlist and a Memory
I was looking through some old files in online storage today. A text file, “chris top 20.txt” dated “Mar 5, 2009 at 10:03 PM”, caught my eye. I opened it and remembered its story. Christopher and I spoke of music often. That, along with technology, were our biggest common interests. We were talking of our favorite albums, and I asked him to make me a list of his top 20. This was the result. I remember listening to everything so I could better know what mattered to him.
I made a playlist in Apple Music today. 18 hours, 19 minutes. For the memory.
A Day for Love
Love comes in two forms. The love that just is, like how a parent loves a child. Or a child loves a parent. The taste of a favorite food. How you love that puppy the very first time you feel his nose on your cheek.
The other form is the love you choose. The thing you do over and over and one day you realize you love doing it. The game you play. The person you meet, learn about, experience life with, and then one day, realize if you don’t stop it you are going to love them. That threshold event that happens in a relationship.
Some days are for reflecting on what and whom you love. Do it so you don’t have regrets. Do it today.
Death Day
Until next year, Christopher. Until next year.
The Difference
_I choose you to work in government and legally and ethically represent my country’s (and my) best interests._
_I choose you to work in government and do what you want._
See the difference? Too many in our government don’t.
I remember you Morris Litton. You were kind to a young boy.

Two Men
Let’s take two men, standing in the same location. One is nearsighted, vision impared. Two has normal eyesight, good vision. Within the range of One’s vision, both men see the same things, with the same clarity, depth, and focus. Two’s vision extends significantly beyond One’s vision, affording him more information than One can access. Two can see clearly items which One cannot focus. Some items within Two’s range of sight are not visible to One. Which man would you say has the best chance of developing the clearest view of the world around them?
Exchange the word intellect for vision.
Many of us would have no issue with assigning Two the advantage when using “vision” but struggle with the same conclusion when using “intellect”. The second premise seems to unfairly belittle One, and our sense of fairness presses us to compromise our conclusion.
Life Lesson: Communicating with a visual person means you’d better have a great screen capture utility.
Parlor Tricks
When AI allows me to capture the smell of my coffee in the canister and share it in a text message I’ll be impressed. Anything less than that is parlor tricks. 🙂
If Dreams Were Memories
I wish all my dreams were memories. Then I would have lived the life I wanted.
